At the end of each year, food experts try to predict what the next one has in store when it comes to food. Although predicting the future is quite difficult, there were a few predictions that actually came true for 2023.

Briny Flavors and Low-ABV or No-ABV Drinks

Briny flavors might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they were a 2023 hit. Being the flavor of the year, they added extra tanginess to pretty much everything, including beverages. Food-flavored drinks may sound weird, but they hit the spot for sure.

Low and no-ABV drinks were also popular. You can still have fun while having them on their own, and they taste amazing. In addition, they are now essential in many restaurants and their menus. Let’s hope we’ll get to try a variety of new flavors next year.

Nostalgic Foods Made a Comeback

A lot of retro things made a comeback in 2023, and food was no exception. Some predictions were pepperoni cups, blooming onions, ‘90s sprinkle cake, and more. People got the nostalgia and were brought back to their childhood.

Unfortunately, some predictions for 2023 missed the mark. Chocolate charcuterie boards weren’t a thing. Another strange prediction was combining astrology with food. Astrology fans weren’t interested in knowing the perfect dish based on their sign.

Robot Servers Didn’t Happen

Another one of the many food predictions was robot servers that would bring your order and tell you the story behind your favorite drink. Although some places have started using robots to cook, technology hasn’t managed to take over the world of food just yet.
